Selfish Gene

From the Studio · YouTube

We’re survival machines built by our genes — but kindness can win too. Reggae on the selfish gene. “Selfish Gene” by Roots in Wisdom is conscious reggae from the Sacred Mind album, inspired by The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins (1976). A clever, driving tune: life is gene-deep survival, yet cooperation and altruism can still rise. THE BOOK & THE MESSAGE The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins (1976) reframed evolution around the gene: living things are ‘survival machines’ shaped to pass genes on — and, surprisingly, that lens also explains where cooperation and altruism come from. The song holds both truths — a deep survival drive and the real power of working together. LIVE IT DAILY — how to use this takeaway every day - Notice a selfish impulse without shame, then choose better. - Cooperate — reciprocity pays over time. - Invest in your people, your ‘tribe’. - Play the long game over the quick grab.
